Business Rates Officer needed in South East London Paying £22.87 per hr ref OR120314

Full time hours on a temporary basis

• Key Responsibilities

• Administer Business Rates (NNDR) accounts, ensuring accurate billing and account maintenance.
• Process liability changes including occupancies, vacancies, property splits, mergers, and ownership updates.
• Assess and determine applications for mandatory, discretionary, small business, and charitable rate reliefs.
• Calculate refunds, credits, exemptions, and adjustments in accordance with legislation.
• Investigate discrepancies and resolve complex account queries from businesses, agents, and other stakeholders.
• Liaise with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) regarding valuations, appeals, and property changes.
• Manage recovery processes including reminders, summonses, arrangements, and enforcement action where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity across revenues systems.
• Respond to enquiries by telephone, email, and correspondence, delivering excellent customer service.
• Monitor workloads to meet performance targets and collection rates.
• Assist with year-end processes, annual billing exercises, and government initiatives affecting Business Rates administration.
