A New Job

Privacy policy

Last updated 26 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data A New Job collects, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have. It covers everyone who uses the site: people looking for work, people who sign up for job alerts, employers and visitors.

Who we are

A New Job (www.anewjob.co.uk) is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration number ZA482622.

For anything about your personal data, email us at davidjenkinswave@gmail.com.

Who is responsible for your data

What we collect and why

Searching and browsing

You can search and read jobs without giving us any personal details. To understand how the site is used, we record anonymous statistics: searches made (the words, place and filters), job pages viewed, Apply clicks, applications and alert sign-ups, together with the website that sent you here, the type of device and your approximate area (town or region, worked out from your connection by our hosting provider). We do not use cookies or store anything in your browser for this. To count how many different people visit each day, we turn your connection details into a code that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you; your IP address is not stored with these statistics. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the site.

Applying for a job

You give us your name, email address, phone number and CV. We pass them to the employer (who is emailed about each new application), store them securely and email you a confirmation. We do this as the employer’s processor (see above). If you have an account, we show the jobs you have applied for in it.

Some jobs on the site come from jobstrackr.com. Pressing Apply on one of those takes you to jobstrackr.com to apply there, and we only record that Apply was pressed (anonymously, as above). Anything you give jobstrackr.com is covered by its own privacy policy.

Job alerts

You give us your email address and the search you want to follow. We email you new matching jobs as often as you choose. We ask you to confirm by email first (unless you are signed in), every email has an unsubscribe link, and we only ever email you about jobs matching your alerts. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.

Job seeker accounts

You sign in with your email address; we email you a single-use sign-in link instead of using a password. In your account you can add your name, phone number, town or postcode, the job you are looking for, your salary expectation, how far you would travel and up to three CVs. We use these to fill in applications for you and to manage your alerts. Our lawful basis is providing the service you asked for (contract).

The CV database

Only if you choose to, one of your CVs can go into our searchable CV database. Registered, approved employers can then search for, view and download that CV, see the details in your account, and contact you about jobs. Our lawful basis is your consent, which we record with the date. You can turn it off at any time in your account, after which employers can no longer find or view it.

Employers

When you register a company we collect your name, email address, the company name, your confirmation that you may recruit for it and a record that you accepted our employer terms, and we check new companies before approving them. We keep the jobs you post, your company logo if you add one, your team members’ email addresses, and invitations you send. To protect candidates, we log when company users download CVs. Our lawful bases are providing the service (contract) and our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe.

Security

To stop spam and abuse, our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you are a person. We also count how many sign-in links and form submissions come from each email address and connection, so they can be limited. When you sign in we keep a record of the session, including your IP address and browser type. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site and its users safe.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal data.

Data outside the UK

Our data is stored in the UK and Europe. Vercel, Cloudflare and Resend are based in the United States and their staff may be able to access data from there, for example for support. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by the UK–US data bridge or by the UK’s approved contract terms (the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum).

Your rights

You have the right to:

Much of this you can do yourself: unsubscribe from any alert email, manage alerts and CVs in your account, or delete your account under My account. For anything else, email davidjenkinswave@gmail.com. We reply within one month. For job applications we may pass your request to the employer, who is responsible for them.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Automated decisions

We do not make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects. Employers decide who to shortlist and hire. If we add new automated features, such as AI-written summaries of CVs and jobs, we will update this policy first.

Cookies

We only use cookies that are needed to sign you in and keep the site secure. See our cookie notice.

Children

A New Job is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from younger children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you by email or on the site before it applies.
