Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Ensure designs are technically robust, cost-effective and suitable for manufacture, installation and ongoing maintenance.

Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the engineering team.

Work closely with production, manufacturing and engineering teams to identify requirements and deliver effective solutions.

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across machinery, equipment and production processes.

Liaise with suppliers and external contractors to support equipment design and delivery.

Ensure all engineering designs meet relevant industry standards, safety requirements and company procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

HNC, HND or degree-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Significant experience in a Mechanical Design Engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Strong background in the design and development of bespoke machinery, mechanical equipment and conveying systems.

Advanced working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Experience using PDM software and managing engineering drawings, revisions and technical documentation.

Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes and design for manufacture.

Proven experience taking engineering projects from concept through to manufacture and implementation.

Experience managing multiple engineering projects and taking ownership of technical deliverables.

Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, production and manufacturing teams.

Desirable Experience

Previous experience within FMCG or high-volume manufacturing environments.

Experience designing bespoke machinery, automated equipment or production line solutions.

Knowledge of automated manufacturing processes and production requirements.

Experience delivering engineering projects within a production or factory environment.
